Kathleen Mitchell, PhD

Kathleen Mitchell, PhD, is a collegiate faculty member managing the intelligence management and homeland security graduate courses at ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ (UMGC) and has been teaching online for nearly 20 years. Mitchell retired as a special agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) working white-collar crime, violent crime, and counterterrorism investigations. She also worked as a certified law enforcement officer in Florida, Texas, and Colorado as an executive educational specialist with the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy (JCITA) and was the director of the law enforcement academy at Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Mitchell holds a PhD in education from Walden University, an MEd in adult learning and education from the University of Virginia, and an MS in criminal justice administration from Lynn University. She has extensive experience in teaching, specializing in education, criminal justice, and instructor and faculty development. She lives in Colorado and enjoys doing many outdoor activities with her family.
