Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Learn more about joining UMGC as an undergraduate student.

¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ offers a streamlined admissions process that does not require the SAT®1 or ACT. New students and those students who have not registered for classes at UMGC in the past two years will need to for admission and pay the application fee.

New Admission Criteria for Regular Status Students

In order to be eligible for admission to UMGC as a regular student, you must fulfill one of the following academic requirements:

  • Graduation from a state-approved or regionally accredited high school
  • Passing scores on a state high school equivalency exam, such as the GED
  • Graduation from a homeschooling or alternative high school program in compliance with state and local education regulations in the state where you were homeschooled or attended an alternative high school
  • Graduation from a non-U.S. high school with a credential evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma by an approved international credential evaluation agency

Submitting Transcripts & Other Documents

You must submit verification of your eligibility for admission to UMGC before the end of the term following the term in which you are admitted.

You are required to submit an official high school transcript or documentation showing that you have the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma unless you are in one of the following student categories.

  • You have not completed high school, but you earned at least 60 college-level credits or an associate’s degree

On a case-by-case basis, UMGC may accept other military service verification records as proof of high school graduation or equivalency. If you applied to UMGC prior to this policy going into effect and have questions about this requirement, please e-mail admissions@umgc.edu.

Effective October 28, 2021: If you graduated from a U.S regionally accredited or state-approved high school or completed a state high school equivalency exam (such as the GED), you may submit a UMGC-issued Attestation Form certifying your graduation from high school or completion of a high school equivalency exam. At any time, UMGC may require that you submit an official transcript or score report for audit or verification purposes. If you applied to UMGC prior to this policy going into effect and have questions about this requirement, please e-mail admissions@umgc.edu.
